For almost 50 minutes, goals were hard to come by at Cheel Arena, as the two teams had 37 shots but no scoring. Then Skylar Podvey was able to put the Saints up 1-0 just seconds into their 4th Power Play of the game.
Things looked bleak for the Knights when they took a penalty at 17:59, but they were able to get the extra attacker on to make it 5 on 5. Taking advantage of their ability to ice the puck, the Knights got possession inside the Saints zone and were able to get a centering feed which Morgan was able to save, but
Caitrin Lonergan was able to get the equalizer on the rebound.
Clarkson had to temper their excitement as there were still on the penalty kill for the remaining time left in regulation.
Overtime produced some chances but neither team could get the extra point. In the new ECAC point format, each team will get 1.5 points for the tie. Different then the Men's games, the ECAC Women's side of the league decided to not keep the OT shootout to determine the extra point.
Michelle Pasiechnyk ended the game with 29 saves, while the Knights out shot their opponents for 18th time this season, getting 36 shots on goal.
