The Series: Wednesday's meeting will be the first game between the two teams.

Key Stats for Clarkson (0-1): In its season-opener against Bryant & Stratton (Buffalo), the Knights came up short on the road against the Bobcats by eight, with the biggest issue being 26 turnovers. Junior guard Chris Hulbert recorded his 12th career 20-point game, tossing in 24 and senior guard Roburt Welch added 13. In 2019-20, the Knights averaged more than nine 3-pointers per game, and away from Alumni Gym the Knights dropped in 11 long-range shots in the season-opener. Clarkson, unsurprisingly, tends to shoot better in its own gym, as seven of the Knights' 10 lowest 3-point shooting percentages came on the road last year, while eight of the team's 13 lowest percentages were away from home in 2018-19, and the six lowest percentages in 2017-18 occurred in unfamiliar environments.

Key Stats for Villa Maria (0-0): A year ago, the Vikings won 11 contests in 27 tries, but that team is an entirely different one than this year's group. Villa Maria has no seniors on its roster and has eight freshmen and just a few players that saw regular time for last year's squad. Sophomore forward Juwan Beale is the team's top returning scorer, averaging 14.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, but he did so in just nine games in the first semester of 2019-2020. Jordan Heine averaged 9.2 points per contest in 17 games and Gianluca Ndukanma produced 2.6 points and 2.8 boards in 17 outings. The Vikings averaged 78.8 points per contest last year, topping 85 points on eight occasions. The team averaged close to 20 turnovers per game.
