Schenectady, NY - Senior Camryn Careccia scored her 19th career goal on a penalty kick midway through the first half, but two late goals by Union College sunk any chance of a comeback by the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team as the Golden Knights fell 4-1 to the Dutchwomen on Saturday afternoon.

Clarkson concluded its season a game over .500 with a record of 9-8-1 overall and 2-7-0 in the Liberty League, while the Dutchwomen claimed the final spot in the conference playoffs, moving to 9-6-1 and 4-4-1 on the season.

The game was even through most of the first half, but the Dutchwomen picked up some momentum for the second frame by scoring with just a little over a minute remaining in the first 45 minutes. Linsey Giles headed in a shot to the far post off a pass from Fiona Zimmerman at 43:56.

Union opened things up in the second half as Emma Schleimer maneuvered around the Clarkson defense to score at 53:39, but the Knights rallied back in the 59th minute when Careccia converted a penalty kick at the 58:45 mark to pull Clarkson back within one. Any chance at Clarkson playing spoiler were foiled in the final 20 minutes. Giles curled in her second goalof the game at the 70:32 mark on a pass from Bella Dworkin and five minutes later Erin O'Shea added a second insurance goal for the Dutchwomen.

Union ended up with a 14-7 advantage in shots and a 7-5 lead in shots on goal, though Clarkson recorded more corner kicks (9-6). Elyse Green made two stops in 75-plus minutes for Clarkson and Emma Timerman made one save over the final 14:16 of the game. For Union, Alison Sorkenn made three saves.
