CU Women's Soccer Preview - at Union College (11/2)

Although the team was eliminated from playoff contention on Tuesday, the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team will look to play spoiler and close out the 2019 season on a positive note when the Golden Knights take on Union College on Saturday afternoon.

The Series: Clarkson has never beaten Union, going 0-22-4 in 26 matches versus the Dutchwomen. However, the matchup has actually been quite close in recent years with the Union going just 1-0-2 in the last three seasons. In fact, six of the last eight contests between the two teams have required overtime.

Key Stats for Clarkson (9-7-1, 2-6-0 Liberty League): With a win, the Golden Knights will reach double figures in victories for just the second time in program history. Seniors Camryn Careccia and Giulia Mahoney will also be looking to edge upward on the Golden Knights' all-time scoring list. Careccia is tied for seventh all-time in points (42) and is tied for fourth in goals (18). Could she somehow score twice on Saturday, she would become just the third player in program history to reach 20 goals. As for Mahoney, she is ninth all-time in points (40), doing damage both in goals (14, tied for eighth) and with assists (12, tied for fourth).

Key Stats for Union (8-6-1, 3-4-1 Liberty League): The Dutchwomen need a win for any chance of advancing to the Liberty League Tournament. Union has been on offensively in the last week, scoring seven goals in its two previous games. Emma Schleimer leads the team with 16 points (6-4-16) and has a goal and two assists in the last two contests. Bella Dworkin, who scored against the Knights in last year's 1-1 tie, is second with 14 points (6-2-14) with a pair of goals in the last week, and Fiona Zimmerman is third on the team in scoring at 12 points (3-6-12). Zimmerman was particularly active against Skidmore on Wednesday, scoring twice and adding an assist.
