CU Men's Soccer Preview - at St. Lawrence University (9/26)

One of the Green and Gold's biggest rivalry games will take place midweek as the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team faces Route 11 rival St. Lawrence in a Liberty League match up in Canton, NY.

Live Stats/Live Video

The Series: Clarkson is just 13-43-5 all-time against the Saints, but did claim a 1-0 win against St. Lawrence in 2016 and played SLU essentially even in a 2-0 loss in 2017.

Key Stats for Clarkson (6-1-1, 0-0-1 Liberty League): Although the Golden Knights have lost only once in their last three games, the team is suffering through a bit of a scoring slump with just one goal in the last 298 minutes. It is not for a lack of attempts, however, as Clarkson owns a 44-24 edge in shots over that stretch. The good news for the Golden Knights is that the team still is being quite stingy on defense, having allowed just three goals in eight games all year. The Green and Gold's three goals allowed in 740 minutes (0.365 goals against average) ranks 13th in NCAA Division III. Not surprisingly, the five teams ahead of Clarkson have lost a total of five games in 2018.

Key Stats for St. Lawrence (4-1-1, 1-0-0 Liberty League): The Saints have received goals from seven different players in their six games this year, but Jethro Dede is the team's main offensive threat, as he has scored four times, with two coming in a win over conference opponent Union College. Tapshak Augustine is second on the team in scoring with six points on one goal and four assists, finding three different teammates for goals. Brendan McNamee, Ethan Riddell, Ryan Crouse have also each scored two goals this year. Mike Smith and Ben Kelty have split goalkeeping duties thus far, with Smith getting four starts and 366 minutes of action and Kelty receiving 198 minutes of playing time in his two starts. Kelty has yet to allow a goal this year while Smith has given up six (1.48 goals against average).
