CU Women's Lacrosse Preview - vs. St. Lawrence University (4/11)

After winning one of the biggest games in program history on Friday, the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team now needs to focus on getting key wins down the stretch to firm up its playoff position as the Golden Knights host St. Lawrence on Wednesday afternoon at Hantz Turf Field

Live Stats/Live Video

The Series: Although the Knights trail significantly in the all-time series against St. Lawrence with just two wins in 42 games, both of those victories have come in the past three seasons. Clarkson narrowly outlasted St. Lawrence with a 13-12 win in 2015 and edged out the Saints 10-9 in overtime in 2017.

Key Stats for Clarkson (9-3 overall, 3-2 Liberty League): Junior Jaid Baytos is only one point shy of becoming the 16th member of Clarkson's 100-point club and with any kind of repeat effort from last year's game against St. Lawrence she will surely hit the mark. Baytos recorded six points on five goals and an assist in the win against SLU last year, including the game-winner in overtime. All season long several players have been jockeying for second place on Clarkson's scoring list and the tight grouping continues 12 games into the season. Emma Andrews (24-4-28), Abby Collins (22-6-28), and Katie Sergeant (22-5-27) are all vying for second on the team in scoring. Collins is also contributing 23 groundballs, 25 draw controls and 11 caused turnovers. Sophomore Stephanie Scaia also enjoyed a solid game against the Saints last year with three groundballs, three draw controls and two caused turnovers.

Key Stats for St. Lawrence (3-7 overall, 1-4 Liberty League): A senior-laden team, the Saints have not gotten off to the start that they were hoping with so many upperclassmen, though the team has performed well against national-ranked teams with close losses to Geneseo, Ithaca and William Smith. Senior Rachel Boghosian leads the team in goals with 27, producing 11 in the last three games and six over the weekend versus Ithaca and William Smith. Classmate Kayla Schmalz is second on the team in scoring with 27 points, just one shy of Boghosian's total, and also leads the team in draws with 46. Freshman Campbell Armstrong has produced 11 points in her last three games to push her scoring total to 16-5-21 on the season. Seniors Jacqueline Sovie and Greta Massey have also accumulated solid all-around totals, with Sovie producing team-bests in groundballs (30) and caused turnovers (14) and Massey producing 11 points, 25 groundballs, 13 caused turnovers and 13 draws.
