CU Men's Soccer Preview - at Hobart College (10/6)

October has finally arrived and the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team will be focused on gaining a playoff spot in the next few weeks, beginning with a game against current conference leader Hobart College on Saturday afternoon.

Live Stats/Live Video

The Series: The Golden Knights and Hobart tied last year 1-1 thanks to a 64th-minute goal from Clarkson's Henry Gomez and seven saves from Ian Roeloffs. Clarkson leads in the all-time match up 34-24-6, but the Statesmen hold a 10-1-1 edge since 2006.

Key Stats for Clarkson (7-2-1, 1-1-1 Liberty League): Although the Green and Gold have two goalkeepers essentially splitting duties in 2018, the results have been consistent thanks to a regular starting lineup on the defensive end. Freshman Nate Liscum, senior James Homan, and sophomore Brandon Bahr rank first, second, and third in minutes played for the Knights, with both Liscum and Homan averaging over 90 minutes per game. Liscum has been off the pitch for all of four minutes this year. That steady line has held Clarkson opponents to just five goals overall in 10 games, with one being an own goal. Ian Roeloffs has a 0.80 goals against average and .828 save percentage in six starts while Riley McDonald has yet to allow a goal in four starts, posting 17 saves.

Key Stats for Hobart (4-4-2, 3-0-1 Liberty League): Any panic that the Statemen might have had in the early going has subsided once conference play began. Hobart has outscored conference foes 8-1 in four games after producing just four goals in six non-league games to start the season. Junior Tristan Cornell Roberts has scored all three of his goals this year in league play, scoring in three straight contests. Mouhamed Diouf and Alex Weisbein are second on the team in goals with two apiece. Alec Kaminer is among the conference leaders in saves (49), save percentage (.875) and goals against average (0.68).
