CU Volleyball Preview - at St. Lawrence University (10/2)

After six days off, the Clarkson University Volleyball team looks to get back on the winning track when the Golden Knights return to Liberty League play, facing St. Lawrence University on Tuesday night in Canton, NY.

The Series: The Golden Knights hold a modest 64-62 lead in the all-time series against St. Lawrence, but they have won 13 straight matches dating back to the start of the 2011 season, and are 43-9 in the rally-scoring era, which began in 2001. Last year, the Knights won in four sets.

Key Stats for Clarkson (7-7, 0-2 Liberty League): Through the first 10 matches of the season, the Golden Knights averaged 11.6 kills per set with a .193 hitting percentage and 21.87 digs per set. However, Clarkson has struggled in its last four matches, all losses, posting only 9.47 kills, a .092 hitting percentage and a comparatively low 19.41 digs per set. If Clarkson is to get back on track it will need help from hitters besides Rachel Reusch, who is once again posting all-star numbers with 3.27 kills per set, a .346 hitting percentage and 60 total blocks, including 21 solo efforts.

Key Stats for St. Lawrence (12-5, 0-2 Liberty League): The Saints have one of the most dynamic freshman in the league in Natalie Piper, who is averaging 3.44 kills per set with a .271 hitting percentage from the outside. Piper has surpassed double figures in kills in 11 of the team's 17 matches this year and she also leads the team with 25 aces. The Saints are once again good up front on the net, leading the conference with 2.16 blocks per set. Amanda Teppo leads the Liberty League with 1.12 blocks per set.
