CU Men's Basketball Preview - at SUNY Canton (12/5)

For the second time in a week, the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team will be playing a local opponent, as the Golden Knights will head down Route 11 to take on SUNY Canton in a non-league game Tuesday night.

Live Stats/Live Video

The Series: The Golden Knights are 7-2 all-time against the Kangaroos, including a 95-75 win against Canton in 2016-17 at Alumni Gymnasium. Canton's two wins both came during the 2015-16 season.

Key Stats for Clarkson: Although the Knights struggled from long range against Skidmore (6-for-21) on Saturday afternoon, Clarkson is still scoring its points in bunches from beyond the 3-point arc. The Knights have tallied nearly half of their points (204 of 409) from the 3-point line this year, easily leading the conference with 68 3-pointers. Clarkson's 11.3 makes per game from beyond the arc and success ratio of 42.5% both rank in the top 25 nationally at the Division III level.

Key Stats for SUNY Canton: The Kangaroos will likely be looking for a different kind of 3-point play when they attack Clarkson's defense. SUNY Canton has made 91 free throws this year in seven games, 22 more than the Knights have even taken. The Roos are more reliant on shots closer to the rim as the team has made just 45 3-pointers overall, shooting 25.7% from distance. In only one game this year has SUNY Canton shot better than 32% from the 3-point line (37.5%, 12-for-32, against St. Lawrence).
