CU Men's Basketball Preview - vs. Oswego State (11/20)

Playing its third game in five days, the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team will be at home for the first time in 2017-18 when the Golden Knights host Oswego State on Tuesday evening.

The Series: The matchup between the Golden Knights and Lakers dates back to the 1931-32 season, but the two teams have still only played 31 times  in the last 86 years. Clarkson holds a slim 17-14 lead in the all-time series, but the Lakers won last year's contest 72-71 in overtime.

Key Stats for Clarkson (1-1): The Knights are shooting 39.7% from beyond the 3-point arc so far with three players having hit five treys in two games. Sophomore Matt Higgins leads the team in scoring at 13.0 points per game and junior Matthew Hornak is kicking in 11.5 points per game with 21 of his 23 points coming from 3-point line. Freshman Roburt Welch is shooting 55.6% from the arc, going 5-for-9 to average 8.5 points per contest in the early going.  

Key Stats for Oswego State (0-2): Four Lakers are averaging double figures in scoring through two games, but Oswego has been unable to come away with a win yet, as opponents are shooting 52.3% from the 3-point line (23-44). Jamir Ferebee leads the team in scoring at 16.5 points per game and Tyler Pierre is averaging a double-double with 15.5 points and 13.0 rebounds per game. Liam Sanburn (14.0 ppg) and Josh Ivey (11.5 ppg) are also pushing Oswego to 79.5.
