Knights Return to ECAC Hockey Play Hosting Quinnipiac & Princeton

Ranked fourth in the national polls, the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team returns to ECAC Hockey action looking to move up into the top spot of the league standings. The Golden Knights battle Quinnipiac and Princeton at Cheel Arena, this weekend hosting the Bobcats on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and the Tigers on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.

Clarkson, which split a non-league, home-and-home series vs the University of Vermont from Hockey East last weekend, stands at 11-2-1 overall. The Green and Gold suffered a 3-2 defeat in Burlington on Friday as the Catamounts scored the deciding goal on the power play in the final 68 seconds. The Knights came back on Saturday to shut out UVM 4-0 in Potsdam.
Winners of three straight in ECAC Hockey play, Clarkson owns a 3-1 league mark and is tied for second in the conference standings. After this weekend's games the Knights host St. Lawrence on November 30 before playing the next four games on the road to close out the 2017 portion of the schedule.
•    Senior Shea Tiley posted her nation-leading sixth shutout of the year behind 16 saves in Saturday's win over Vermont and now holds the Clarkson record for career shutouts with 30, breaking the old mark of 29 set by Erica Howe '14. She is on the verge of establishing a new Clarkson record for career wins with a 90-22-14 all-time record, currently sharing the mark with Howe. Tiley ranks sixth in the NCAA in goals against average (1.27) and eighth in save percentage (.937). She backstops the third stingiest defense in the country, allowing only 1.21 goals per game.
•    Clarkson's leading scorer, junior Loren Gabel is also closing in on coveted mark. She is just five points shy of reaching the century mark with 52 goals and 43 assists through 95 career games. Gabel is fourth in the country this season in points per game with 1.86 on 12 goals and 14 assists. She leads the conference in league scoring with 10 points (6-4).
•    The Knights' captain, senior Savannah Harmon is also bearing down on 100 career points with 25 goals and 67 assists in 133 games. Harmon, who has tallied 13 points (3-10) this season, is bidding to become only the second Clarkson defenseman to reach the century mark, joining Erin Ambrose '16.
•    Clarkson's power play is ranked 2nd in Division I, clicking at 29.3% (17-58).

The Series:
Clarkson leads the all-time series 21-10-4 against Quinnipiac. The Knights have won three straight over the Bobcats starting with a 1-0 win in the NCAA Quarterfinals on March 12, 2016 at Cheel. Clarkson also posted a 4-1 in Hamden, CT and 1-0 victory in Potsdam last year. Quinnipiac's last win in the series was a 1-0 victory in the 2016 ECAC Hockey Championship on March 6 at High Points Solution Arena.
Clarkson is undefeated against Princeton in the last nine games dating back to the 2012-2013 season (8-0-1). The Golden Knights defeated the Tigers on home ice twice last year including a 4-0 win in the NCAA Semifinals. Clarkson leads the all-time series 16-12-2. Gabel has been the go-to player against Princeton in her career with six goals and three assists in five games. Tiley is undefeated in seven starts against Princeton and has a 1.57 GAA and a .931 Save Percentage.

Scouting Quinnipiac and Princeton
Quinnipiac, at 7-6 overall, opened up the season 4-2 but has gone 3-4 since. The Bobcats are 3-3 in conference play. Quinnipiac has done most of its damage at home this season going 6-1 in Hamden, CT. Conversely they are 1-5 in road games with the lone win coming by way of Providence in early October.This past weekend the Bobcats swept Union (4-3ot) and RPI (2-1) at High Points Solution Arena.

The Tigers have had a rocky start to their 2016-17 campaign. Princeton holds a 2-4-2 overall record. The Tigers are 2-4 in conference play, good enough for a three-way tie for eighth place in the ECAC, with league wins coming over Dartmouth and Union. Princeton is 2-2-2 at home and are 0-2 on the road after losing consecutive two-goal games to Colgate and Cornell. This past weekend, Princeton split at home in New Jersey, losing 2-1 to RPI before shutting out Union 3-0.
