With a convincing 8-1 win over Brown on Saturday afternoon at Cheel Arena the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team extended the nation's longest unbeaten streak to 18 games (15-0-3) and added to the Golden Knights' momentum entering the stretch run of the regular season.

Ranked third in the country Clarkson stands at 17-3-4 overall and holds down first place in the ECAC Hockey standings with an 11-0-1 league mark. The Green and Gold have 10 games remaining in the regular season and close out a four-game home stand hosting Cornell and Colgate next weekend at Cheel Arena.

Sophomore center Cassidy Vinkle led the way in the Knights' most explosive 20 minutes of the season with her second career hat trick in Clarkson's 6-1 first-period effort. Vinkle, who has nine career points in four games against the Bears, recorded her first career hat trick in the 8-1 victory over Brown in Providence on November 18.

Senior Genevieve Bannon and sophomore Loren Gabel also enjoyed a big day with two goals and one assist apiece.

"We were able to get out to a good start tonight which really helped set the tone and get everyone into the game right away," said Head Coach Matt Desrosiers. "We got a lot of contributions throughout the line up and had a lot of players have some very solid games. Being able to have that type of consistency between each line and D pairing will be very important for us moving forward and something we will need to bring each and every game."

Vinkle opened the scoring just 1:58 in, scoring in front off a pass from classmate Rhyen McGill.

Brown (4-15-0, 2-10-0) tied it up with an unassisted goal from Sena Hanson at 3:50, but from then on it was all Green and Gold.

Clarkson regained the lead with a pair of goals 1:31 apart. Vinkle scored her second of the period at 4:08 with McGill assisting again. Gabel tallied on an end-to-end rush at 5:39 to make it 3-1.

Just 10 seconds into the first power play of the game Vinkle completed her hat trick with her 10th goal of the season at 7:05 with sophomore Josiane Pozzebon and Gabel assisting.

Gabel made it 5-1 with her ninth goal of the season at 10:44 on a shot from the slot with junior Brielle Bellerive assisting.

With 19 seconds remaining senior Bannon closed out the period scoring, tapping in a shot at the side of the net while on the power play. Senior Cayley Mercer and junior defenseman Savannah Harmon assisted.

Bannon added her second of the game and 10th of the year at 15:51 of the middle frame. Mercer closed out the scoring with a power-play marker and team-high 13th goal of the season at 17:13 of the third period.

Clarkson outshot Brown 44-25, including a 23-2 margin through the opening 20 minutes.

Senior goaltender McKenzie Johnson kept her career record perfect (6-0-0) with a career-high 24 saves.

The Knights were 3-of-8 on the power play and killed off all six of the Bears' man-advantage opportunities.
