Led by ninth-year head coach Matt Desrosiers and assistant coaches Britni Smith and Tony Maci, the Green and Gold went on the road and beat fifth-ranked Quinnipiac and tenth-ranked Princeton. It was the first two wins over ranked teams this season for Clarkson and the first since the Golden Knights beat those very same Bobcats in the 2016 NCAA Quarterfinals.

After a slow start with just two points in her first six games, Michael Pejzlova has come on strong and has racked up seven in her last six games. Pejzlova is tied for 12th in the country in points per game among rookies and is first in ECAC Hockey. She was named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Month for October as well as ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week for the first week in November. Pejzlova is not the only Clarkson rookie playing well as Ella Shelton has at least one point in three of her last four games from the blueline. Shelton is tied for 18th in the country and is tied for second in ECAC Hockey in points among rookies.

The four senior skaters on Clarkson helped lead the way last weekend. Corie Jacobson scored the game-winning goal against Quinnipiac while Jessica Gillham had a goal against the Bobcats and an assist against Princeton. Assistant captain Genevieve Bannon picked up an assist against the Tigers. Finally, co-captain Cayley Mercer scored against Quinnipiac and then had an assist of her own against Princeton.

Not to be outdone by the seniors, the sophomore class added six points of their own. Loren Gabel had two goals against Princeton, including a power-play goal. Gabel is now tied with classmates Josiane Pozzebon and Rhyen McGill for the team lead in extra man goals with three. That puts the trio in a tie for sixth in the country. McGill had assists in both wins while Pozzebon had a power-play goal against Quinnipiac. Kelly Mariani added the game-winning goal against Princeton. Overall, the sophomores have 34 points, besting the seniors by one point.

Clarkson has gotten a large amount of points from the blue-line. The top scoring defensemen for Clarkson has been co-captain Savannah Harmon who is second on the team with 10 points on three goals and seven assists. That puts her in a tie for third in the country in points among defensemen. Jacobson, Pozzebon, and Shelton are all tied for 20th with seven points each. Emma Keenan has just one point this season but has contributed defensively with 11 blocked shots.

Union comes into the game with a 2-10-0 record and a 0-4-0 conference record. The two wins are already more than the Dutchwomen posted in 2015-16 as Union finished 0-28-6 last season. Haley Shugart leads the team with seven points on five goals and two assists. Three of her goals have come on the power-play, putting her in a tie for sixth in the country. She also has one of Union's game-winning goals along with Katie Laughlin. Three different goaltenders have started this season for Union, and although Kate Spooner has started seven games overall, Amelia Murray has started three of the four conference games.

Clarkson has an all-time record of 25-1-0 against Union with the sole blemish coming in 2011. Last season, Clarkson took a 6-0 road win and a 4-1 victory in Cheel. Amanda Titus has had the most success for Clarkson against Union as the junior forward has seven career points in four games. Just behind her is Mercer who has notched five goals and six points overall in six games. Shea Tiley has three shutouts in three starts against Union while McKenzie Johnson also has a victory against the Dutchwomen.

Rensselaer has a 4-7-1 overall record and a 2-2-0 ECAC Hockey mark. The Engineers were picked to finish in the eighth and final conference playoff spot in the preseason after finishing in that same positon last season. Sabrina Repaci and Laura Horwood lead the team with seven and six points respectively with both having four in conference games. Louisa Selander has started 11 of Rensselaer's games in goal and has a 4-6-1 record.

Clarkson leads the all-time series against Rensselaer 17-5-2. One of those five losses came last year when Clarkson fell to the Engineers 2-1 on the road, snapping a 12 game Clarkson winning streak. Clarkson got its revenge with a 9-1 home victory in February. Mercer has eight points in six career games against Rensselear while Bannon has six points. Tiley has a 1.58 goals against average in four starts and a 0.92 save percentage.

Clarkson will host Union in a 6:00 pm game on Friday night and then will take on Rensselaer at 3:00 pm on Saturday.
