CU Women's Soccer Shutout at Plattsburgh

After a scoreless first half, a penalty kick broke the tie and the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team fell to host Plattsburgh 2-0 on Tuesday night.

Clarkson is now 4-7-0 this season and Plattsburgh improves to 8-4-0.

The two teams went toe to toe in the first half hoping to score the opening goal. Clarkson had six shots while the Cardinals had four. However, the performance of the two defenses as well as goalkeepers Elyse Green and Taylor Adams kept the game scoreless through 45 minutes.

Just five minutes into the second half, a Clarkson handball on the edge of the box earned Plattsburgh State a penalty kick. Plattsburgh's leading scorer Anissa Hartman was able to convert the spot kick for her ninth goal of the season. Nine minutes later, Plattsburgh added a second goal when Madeline Saccocio was able to score off Madison Trombley's through ball.

Plattsburgh finished with a slight 13-12 edge in shots while Clarkson led in corner kicks 4-1. Green had three saves for Clarkson while Adams made two stops for the Cardinals.

Clarkson will return home for a conference game on October 8th when William Smith travels to Potsdam.
