Knights Fall to Skidmore in Regular-Season Finale, 69-53

Saratoga Springs, NY - With just two makes from beyond the 3-point line, the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team was unable to rally from a first-half deficit and fell to Skidmore College in the Liberty League regular-season finale on Sunday afternoon.

The Golden Knights fell to 19-6 overall and are 12-4 in the Liberty League, while Skidmore improved to 17-7 and 14-2. Clarkson, the third seed in the upcoming Liberty League Tournament, will travel to play Hobart College, the second seed. Skidmore captured the top spot in the conference and will face RIT, which earned the fourth seed on Friday.

Clarkson struggled from the field at the start, shooting just 7-for-23 in the opening half. Skidmore scored the first basket of the game and led for the remainder of the contest without even seeing the Knights come back to tie the game. Charles McAllister hit a 3-pointer at the 14:34 mark to make the score 6-5, but Skidmore wnet on a 10-0 run. Clarkson saw its six-minute drought without a basket end, but just when it appeared like the Knights were ready to make a run, Skidmore's Aldin Medunjanin hit back-to-back 3-pointers as part of an 11-1 run. The Thoughbreds finished the half with a nine-point edge, 31-22.

In the second half, neither team produced much offensively through the first 11 minutes, and Clarkson used that dry spell to pull back to within five points, but once again Skidmore was able to use a 7-0 run to gain a double-digit advantage. For the final five-plus minutes of the contest, the Knights were unable to climb back within single figures and eventually fell by 16 points.

Felix Abongo finished with a game-high 22 points, which also happened to be his season-high, on 7-for-15 shooting. Dylan Hodownes also produced 12 points, five rebounds and three assists for Clarkson. For Skidmore, Royce Paris came off the bench to score 19 points, going 9-for-10 from the free throw line, while Medunjanin had a solid all-around game with 14 points, four boards, two assists, a block and a steal. Erik Sanders also added in 10 points and six rebounds.
