CU Women's Soccer Preview - vs. Utica/Potsdam 9/5-7

After an exciting double overtime win along with a tough loss, the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team will look to improve upon its 1-1-0 record as it hosts Utica College on Friday at 7:00 PM, and then neighbors Potsdam State on Sunday at 5:00 PM. Both games will be played at Hantz Turf Field.
 
The Golden Knights have played the Utica College Pioneers a total of 14 times, with the most recent meeting coming in 2007. Clarkson leads the all-time series 9-4-1 and has outscored Utica 32-15 in the 14 meetings. Utica opened their season with two wins, defeating Lycoming College 2-1 and Keuka College 3-2.
 
The Green and Gold have a long history of playing nearby rivals Potsdam with the game on Sunday marking the 28th straight year that the two clubs have played each other. Clarkson leads the all-time series 18-6-3 including a 1-0 win last year at Potsdam. The Bears' current record stands at 1-0-1 after tying Alfred University 1-1 and then defeating Alfred State 1-0.
 
Clarkson opened its season with a double overtime 1-0 victory over Colby-Sawyer on Friday. After 106 minutes of soccer, Nikki Carfi (Liverpool, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal. Kim Kenline (Akron, N.Y.) played well in net for the Golden Knights, tallying seven saves, including a crucial penalty save late in regulation. Clarkson would fall to Plattsburgh State 3-0 the next day.
