Box Score
Five different skaters scored goals and 10 players recorded at least one point for the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team as the Golden Knights beat Syracuse 9-0 on Friday afternoon in Cheel Arena.

The nine-goal margin was the largest for Clarkson since their season opening 12-1 win over RIT in 2013-2014.

Clarkson improves to 4-3 and will travel to Syracuse (1-2-4) for a 3:00 pm game on Saturday.

"Our coaching staff is extremely happy with the effort we got from everybody in the lineup tonight," stated head coach Matt Desrosiers. "The team knew we needed a good response after last weekend and did a great job bringing energy right from the opening faceoff. Getting that first goal on the opening shift really set the tone for us. We switched  the lines up this week in practice to try and spark something and it seemed to work tonight. We had a great week of practice where we worked on making sure we did everything hard and we did that tonight. We now need to make sure we follow up with another good effort tomorrow as we want to work towards getting better every game."

Clarkson, which has defeated Syracuse in seven consecutive games, wasted little time in setting the pace for Friday's game, scoring three goals in the first six minutes of the opening period.

Junior captain Shannon MacAuley (Mt. Herbert, PEI) got Clarkson on the scoreboard just 21 seconds into the game when she scored her fourth goal of the season off a pass from sophomore Genevieve Bannon (Candiac, QUE). Junior Cayley Mercer (Exeter, ONT) also assisted on the goal. The Golden Knights would double their lead at 2:31 when freshman Savannah Harmon (Downers Grove, IL) scored her first collegiate goal. Bannon would score a power play goal at 5:39 and would score again at 17:17 to make it 4-0 at the end of the first.

Sophomore Corie Jacobson (Warren, ONT) scored the lone goal in the second period at 4:40.

Clarkson would add another four goals in the final frame. Sophomore Jessica Gillham (Uxbridge, ONT) scored her first goal of the season off a feed from junior assistant captain Erin Ambrose (Keswick, ONT). Senior Christine Lambert (Thetford Mines, QUE) scored the next two Golden Knight goals, the first coming at 6:43 and the second at 11:01. Bannon would finish off the scoring with a goal at 16:04, completing her first career hat trick.

Clarkson held a 29-19 advantage in shots. The Knights went 1-1 on power plays and killed off all three of Syracuse's man-advantage opportunities.

Freshman goalkeeper Shea Tiley (Owen Sound, ONT) made 11 saves in the first two periods before being replaced by sophomore McKenzie Johnson (Eden Prairie, MN) during the second intermission. In her first collegiate appearance, Johnson made eight saves in 20 minutes of action.
