Clarkson Falls at St. Lawrence

Alyssa Cristaldi recorded six points and four goals at St. Lawrence
With a solid first-half effort the Clarkson University Women’s Lacrosse team held the early advantage over St. Lawrence, but the Saints outscored the Green and Gold by an 11-7 margin over the final 30 minutes to gain a 16-13 Liberty League win at Hall-Leet Stadium in Canton on Tuesday afternoon.

The Golden Knights, who own a 6-2 overall record and a 1-2 conference mark, will look to snap out of a two-game skid when they play at Vassar and Bard in Liberty League play this weekend.

After falling behind 2-0 in the opening six minutes against St. Lawrence (6-4, 2-1), Clarkson rattled off six straight scores to hold a four-goal lead with 21 minutes to play in the first half.

The Saints then tallied the last three goals in the period to cut the Knights’ lead to 6-5 at intermission. St. Lawrence continued to roll to start the second half with five more goals to take a 10-6 lead eight minutes in.

Clarkson closed the gap to two goals, 15-13, with 2:16 remaining, but St. Lawrence sealed the deal with its final goal with 49 seconds remaining.

Senior Alyssa Cristaldi (North Syracuse, NY) led the Knights in scoring with four goals and two assists. Freshman Christine Wright (Watertown, NY) also scored four goals for Clarkson.

Brigid Hurley led the Saints with a game-high six goals.

Seniors Katie VanDeValk (Baldwinsville, NY) and Marissa Mastronardi (Cortland, NY) tallied twice for the Green and Gold, while classmate Kerrie Cline (Tuxedo, NY)  scored once.

St. Lawrence outshot Clarkson 36-24 and held a 12-5 advantage in ground balls. Junior Kara DiNatale (Auburn, NH) made seven saves in the Knights’ net.
