Women's Soccer Preview - Knights Take on Arch Rival Saints

Hitting the road one more time this year, the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team will travel to Canton to take on arch rival St. Lawrence University at 1:00 pm on Saturday.

The Saints have had a season full of mixed results. Early on, the non-conference was very kind to them as they went 6-0-2, but since conference play started the Saints have gone 2-4-1 for an overall record of 8-4-3 (2-4-1 Liberty Leagu
e). Nothing has been more up and down for the Saints than their last two games, tying last place Bard 1-1 at home and then knocking off then #16 Skidmore College 1-0 on the road. Julia Friesen leads an offense that has outscored opponents 24-15 on the season with seven goals and six assists. Emily DePoy and Samantha Rock have each added four goals as well for the Saints. Kelsey West has started 10 games in net, going 5-3-2 while recording 51 saves and posting three shutouts.

Coming off their most impressive performance of the season, the Golden Knights held the now #3 William Smith Herons to just one goal in a 1-0 loss last Saturday. Goalkeeper Kim Kenline (Akron, NY) made a number of tough saves in net and recorded five stops total. She's amassed 64 saves on the season for the Green and Gold. Clarkson now stands at 5-11 (1-6 Liberty League) and will look to end the season on a positive note against the Saints. Nine players have one goal each for the Knights this season, and Nikki Carfi (Liverpool, NY) has added a pair of assists to lead the team with four points. Megan Strijek (Schenectady, NY) and Hailey Hider (Pittsford, NY) each have a goal and an assist for three points this season.
