Senior Alicia Chace (Cortland, NY) closed out her standout four-year, three-sport collegiate career for the Golden Knights with a three-goal, one assist effort in the Clarkson University Women’s Lacrosse team's 14-10 loss to Potsdam State at Clarkson Field on Sunday afternoon.
With her four-point outing, Chace established herself as the Knights' second all-time leading scorer with 127 points on 91 goals and 36 assists through 60 career games. She tallied 36 points, including 25 points, in her senior campaign.
Chace, who also played four years for the Knights women's soccer and women's basketball teams, was named Clarkson's Female Athlete of the Year, announced on Friday at the annual Athletic Department Awards Banquet.
Junior Alyssa Breed (Macedon, NY) paced the Green and Gold offensively against Potsdam with a team-high five-point effort on two goals and three assists. Junior Emily Bojarski (Syracuse, NY) chipped in two goals and one assist.
The Bears (5-9) held a 9-7 lead after the opening 30 minutes, and began the second half with a 4-0 run to take a 13-7 lead with just under 12 minutes to play. The Knights made it close with three unanswered tallies to pull within three with four minutes left, but Potsdam closed out the victory by adding its 14th goal with 18 seconds remaining.
Potsdam junior Alisha Schaad (Central Square, NY) led all scored with nine points, including six goals.
Seniors Alexis Miller (Vestal, NY) and Lindsay Walker (Syracuse, NY) and sophomore Brittnie Carroll (Dexter, NY) rounded out the Clarkson goal scorers.
Potsdam out shot the Knights 40-24. Senior Meagan Emlaw (Norfolk, NY) made 16 saves for Clarkson.
The Knights closed out the season with a 2-12 overall record.
