Saratoga Springs, NY - Midway through the second half, the Clarkson University Women's Lacrosse team scored six of the game's seven goals in a 10-minute span, and that streak proved to be the difference as the Golden Knights earned their first victory of the season with an 18-17 Liberty League conference win over Skidmore on Saturday.

The Golden Knights improved to 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the Liberty League, while Skidmore dropped to 2-4 and 0-1. Clarkson hopes to take the momentum from its second straight win over the Thoroughbreds into next Friday's contest against the University of Rochester.

The Thoroughbreds scored twice in the last minute of the first half to take an 11-9 lead into the locker room, but the Knights came back quickly to tie the game in the second half. Skidmore moved up by a goal at 18:46, but Clarkson had five different players score in a 6-1 run and the Green and Gold held on for a one-goal victory, despite the Thoroughbreds scoring three times in the final six-plus minutes.

Junior Alyssa Breed (Macedon, NY) scored four goals and assisted on three others for a team-high seven points in the win, while senior Alicia Chace (Cortland, NY) tallied four goals and two assists. Kimberly Loucks (Waterloo, NY) contributed four goals and an assist and Emily Bojarski (Syracuse, NY) also scored four times.

Freshman Jana Keller (Greenville, PA) made 11 saves for Clarkson, proving to be the difference in the contest, as Clarkson trailed in shots (44-25), ground balls (21-12), and draw controls (20-17) while committing more turnovers than Skidmore (26-17).
