Potsdam, NY – Three different Golden Knights scored goals and freshman Eve Grandmont-Berube (Drummondville, QUE) posted 23 saves as the Clarkson University Women’s Hockey team skated to a 3-1 victory over Colgate University in ECAC Hockey action before 203 fans at Cheel Arena Friday night.

The Golden Knights, who improved their overall record to 15-5-3, moved into a tie for fourth place in ECAC Hockey, owning a 6-4-1 league mark. Clarkson, which hosts Cornell in a 4:00 p.m. game on Saturday, is tied with Princeton for fourth place, but the Green and Gold have two games in hand on the Tigers.

The Knights’ top two scorers provided Clarkson with all the scoring it would need, giving the Green and Gold a 2-0 lead early in the second.

With just five seconds left in the first stanza, junior Marie-Jo Gaudet (Sherbrooke, QUE) picked up a rebound off a wrap-around attempt by freshman Melissa Waldie (Newmarket, ONT) and knocked in her 13th goal of the season.

One of the top rookies in the conference, Waldie gave the Knights a two-goal advantage in the opening minutes of the middle frame. Waldie fired in a shot from the left circle for her team-high 14th goal of the season, an unassisted marker at 2:20.

Colgate (8-10-3, 5-4-2) spoiled Grandmont Berube’s shutout bid with Jacquie Colborne’s power-play goal with just 61 seconds left in the second, making it a 2-1 game through 40 minutes of play.

Senior assistant captain Jessica Cloutier (Parker, CO) sealed Clarkson’s third straight win over Colgate with her third goal of the season. Cloutier scored during a scramble in front at 17:32 of the third with senior captain Katie Morrison (Ridgefield, CT) assisting.

Clarkson held a slight 25-24 advantage in shots. The Knights struggled on the power play, going 0-of-7 with the extra skater. The Raiders were 1-of-5 with the man-advantage.
