Plattsburgh, NY - Just over twenty minutes remained in regulation when Plattsburgh State netted their first and only goal of the contest, but it was enough for the Cardinals to defeat the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team 1-0 Wednesday night.
The Golden Knights fell to 0-3-1 overall while Plattsburgh State remained flawless at 5-0-0. Clarkson returns home this weekend when the Green and Gold host Hilbert College at 1:00 pm on Saturday.
Though dominated in many offensive categories, the Knights were able to hold off the Plattsburgh offense for most of the contest. The Cardinals enjoyed a 9-0 edge in corner kicks and a 19-4 advantage in shots, but only seven of those 19 shots came on goal as the Clarkson defense stifled the Cardinals numerous chances. Plattsburgh State's Elizabeth Radigan put the Cardinals on the scoreboard in the 70th minute when Helen Giroux played the ball across the box and Radigan took a couple of swipes at the ball before getting it past Clarkson keeper Meagan Emlaw (Norfolk, NY).
Emlaw made six saves in the contest while Kathryn Lind made three saves for the shutout for Plattsburgh, her second of the season.
