Knights and Thoroughbreds Battle to Scoreless Draw

October 5, 2007

Saratoga Springs, NY - A year after allowing five goals in a demoralizing loss to one of their Liberty League rivals, the Clarkson University Men's Soccer team held Skidmore scoreless in a 0-0 tie Friday afternoon.

The Golden Knights moved to 3-5-2 overall and 0-2-1 in conference play while Skidmore went to 3-6-3 and 0-1-2. Clarkson looks to get into the Liberty League win column against Union College on Saturday.

Skidmore held a 20-7 edge in shots, but many of those attempts flew out of the range of the goal as Johnathon Rushing (Paw Paw, MI) was called upon to make just eight saves, picking up his third shutout of the season. Jake Densen made five stops for Skidmore to earn the 110-minute shutout.

The two teams also nearly matched corner kicks as Skidmore finished with a 5-4 advantage.
