Sophomore Lindsay Walker’s (Syracuse, NY) goal with 36.4 seconds remaining in the second half forced a 9-9 tie in regulation play for the Clarkson University Women’s Lacrosse team in Saturday’s Liberty League game against St. Lawrence. The Saints, however, tallied the lone goal in overtime to pull out a 10-9 win at Cheel Field.

Wendy Berner tallied the game-winner off a free position shot with 46 seconds remaining in the first three-minute overtime period to extend St. Lawrence’s winning streak over the Golden Knights to 31-0.

Clarkson held a 5-4 lead over the Saints (5-6, 4-4 Liberty League) after 30 minutes and went on top 8-6 with 13:22 remaining on a pair of goals from sophomore Alicia Chace (Cortland, NY) 58 seconds apart.

St. Lawrence then went on a three-goal run to take a 9-8 lead with 9:35 left in the period.

Walker tied it up on a bounce shot from the top of the crease after a perfect pass from junior Lindsey Grigg (Watertown, NY) for her second goal of the game, forcing the extra sessions.

Grigg led the Clarkson attack with three goals and one assist. Chace also tallied three times and freshman Alyssa Breed (Macedon, NY) added one goal for the Green and Gold. Walker finished with two goals and a team-high five groundballs. Senior Lindsay Roberts (Averill Park, NY) set up two Clarkson goals.

Sofie Malinowski finished with five points, including four goals for St. Lawrence.

Clarkson out shot St. Lawrence 36-26, but the Saints held a slight edge in groundballs, 31-28. Junior Erin Duffy (Liverpool, NY) made six saves for the Knights, while Ali Mattison posted 14 stops for the Saints, including a key save off a free position shot by Clarkson freshman Emily Bojarski (Syracuse, NY) with 40 seconds remaining in the second overtime period.

At 4-10 overall, Clarkson closes out the regular season next weekend hosting Elmira and RIT at Cheel Field on Saturday and Sunday.
