The first weekend of road play in the Liberty League was a rough one for the Clarkson University Women’s Lacrosse team as the Golden Knights dropped two games in New York’s Capital District region. On Saturday, Clarkson was overwhelmed by Skidmore College 16-1 in Saratoga Springs.
The Thoroughbreds (7-1, 3-1) jumped out to an 11-0 lead before freshman Alyssa Breed (Macedon, NY) scored the Knights’ lone goal late in the first half. Skidmore added one more before the break to hold a 12-1 lead after 30 minutes.
Skidmore out shot Clarkson 34-9 and controlled groundballs 27-17.
Freshman Amy Simpson (Braintree, VT) made 11 saves in goal for the Knights.
Clarkson, at 3-5 overall and 0-4 in the league, hosts St. Lawrence on Tuesday in a 4:00 p.m. game at Clarkson Field.
