CLARKSON FALLS at 8th-RANKED CORTLAND

Playing its third consecutive game against a Top 10-ranked opponent, the Clarkson University Lacrosse team lost 18-3 at eighth-rated Cortland State in non-league action on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Cortland (3-1) jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first quarter and extended its margin to 12-1 at the half. The Red Dragons built their lead to 15-1 through 45 minutes of play.
 
Liberty League Rookie of the Week, freshman attackman Greg Gibbons (Baldwinsville, NY) scored a goal and an assist for the Golden Knights. Senior captain Bryan Johnson (Newark, NY) and freshman Brian Hoey (Auburn, NY) tallied a goal apiece.
 
Sophomore Greg Lamb (Baldwinsville, NY) started in the Clarkson and goal and posted five saves, while allowing nine goals through 21:34 of play. Freshman Eric Wolery (Cincinnati, OH) played the final 38:26 in the Knights’ crease and made eight saves on 17 shots.
 
The Knights (1-3) will play Plattsburgh State at SUNY Potsdam on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
