Potsdam, NY - Freshman Genevieve Lavoie (St. Laurent, QUE) recorded her third hat trick of the season and her second of the weekend as the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team won its fifth straight game with a 4-1 ECACHL victory over Brown University in front of 207 fans Saturday afternoon at Cheel Arena.

The Golden Knights improved to 10-6-2 overall and 5-4-1 in the ECACHL and have now won four straight conference games. Brown dropped to 1-11-1 and 0-9-0 in conference play. Clarkson returns to action next weekend when they host Niagara University.

Brown opened the scoring when Rylee Olewinski knocked in her own rebound early in the first period, putting the Bears up 1-0 at 1:52 with Heather Lane earning the assist. Clarkson goaltender Stephanie Hansen (Calgary, ALB) beared down after that opening goal as the Knights scored the final four goals of the game. Lavoie recorded Clarkson's first goal with a wrist shot over Nicole Stock's stick-side shoulder, the puck settling just under the crossbar at 7:32. The power-play goal was assisted by Britney Selina (Thornhill, ONT) and Kim McKenney (Smiths Falls, ONT). Lavoie came back with another goal at 12:49, again on the power play, when she redirected a shot from the point by McKenney. Carlee Eusepi (Oakville, ONT) earned the second assist on the goal.

Though the two team's played even when considering shots (15-15) through the first two period, it was the Knights who once again picked up a goal as Lauren Lubrano (Ridgefield, CT) scored her second goal of the season when she deflected in a shot from the top of the circle. Eusepi and Lavoie picked up assists on the goal. The final goal of the game came in the last minute of the third period as Lavoie picked her way through the defense to record her second consecutive hat trick at 19:26 of the third frame. Lavoie scored six times on the weekend and has recorded all 13 of her goals this season in the past seven games. She leads the Knights with 21 points (14 goals, 7 assists).

Hansen finished with 23 saves while Nicole Stock closed with 25 saves. The Knights and Bears were even through the first two period in shots, but Clarkson closed with a 14-9 advantage in the third period to finish with a 29-24 advantage. The Knights went 2-for-6 on the power play while Brown was scoreless in three extra-man chances.
