Princeton, NJ - Senior Kira Hurley (Pickering, ONT) stopped 23 shots over 65 minutes as the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team held on for a 1-1 tie against Princeton University in ECACHL action Saturday afternoon at Hobey Baker Rink.
The Golden Knights earned three points on the weekend and moved to 3-3-2 overall and 1-2-1 in ECACHL play, picking up a point for the first time in five meetings against the Tigers, though the two teams had gone to overtime in two of the other four games. Princeton moved to 2-0-2 overall.
Senior Ashley Shaidle (Hudson, OH) scored her third goal of the season with an even-strength goal at 14:43 of the first period. Carlee Eusepi (Oakville, ONT) and Katie Morrison (Ridgefield, CT) each earned assists on the Knights' lone goal.
With only 36 seconds remaining on the power-play, Princeton tied it up late in the second period with a goal from Kim Pearce, her third tally of the season, at 17:04. Laura Watt and Marykate Oakley assisted on the goal.
Clarkson out shot the Tigers 30-24 and held an advantage in shots in all but the second period (9-8 Tigers). Hurley made 23 saves for the Knights and Kristen Young made 29 saves for Princeton. The Golden Knights went scoreless in seven power-play opportunities and Princeton was successful in one of four power-play tries.
