CLARKSON FALLS to BROWN 1-0

Janaury 13, 2006

Potsdam, NY - A thoroughly dominating performance went for naught as the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team, despite a 25-6 advantage in shots, lost 1-0 to ECACHL foe Brown University before 106 fans at Cheel Arena on Friday night.

The Golden Knights fell to 14-7-1 overall and 6-3 in the ECACHL while the Bears moved to 7-7-1 overall and 5-1-1 in the league.

Clarkson, the 8th-ranked team in the country, held a 8-2 advantage in shots in the opening period but it was Brown that tallied on the scoreboard. Keaton Zucker scored her fourth goal of the season on the power play at 17:47 following a high-sticking penalty. Katherine Moos and Hayley Moore each earned assists on the lone goal of the game.

The Golden Knights continued to pepper Brown goalie O'Hara Shipe with 14 shots in the second period and three more in the third, but Shipe was up to the task and recorded the shutout. Kira Hurley (Pickering, ONT) stopped five shots for Clarkson.

The Bears had only two power-play opportunities and scored on one, while the Golden Knights certainly were not devoid of man-advantage chances, but failed in their seven tries.
