Potsdam, NY - Sophomore defenseman Andrea Maluta (Spencerport, NY) scored her first career goal at an opportune time, tallying the game-winning goal midway through the third period to send the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team to a 3-2 victory over Brown, clinching the final playoff spot in the ECACHL standings.

The Golden Knights moved to 12-14-6 overall and 6-11-1 in the ECACHL. Brown fell to 12-13-2 and 9-8-1. Clarkson's first-round foe has yet to be determined, but the opponent will likely be Harvard or Darmouth.

Freshman Meghan Park (Petrolia, ONT) scored her second goal of the season at the 11:35 mark in the first period as the Knights had a 1-0 lead after the first 20 minutes. Brown came back early in the second period as Heather Lane scored her third goal this season at the 4:43 mark, with assists going to Christine Holdredge and Katie Guay. The game was tied for just under three minutes, however, as Jill Nolan (Labrador, NF) picked up her team-leading 14th goal of the season at 7:42. Sophomore Ashley Shaidle (Hudson, OH) recorded her ninth assist of the season on the score.

With a 2-1 disadvantage to start the final period, the Bears looked to end their offensive scoring struggles. Hayley Moore did just that at the 5:05 mark in the period, scoring her ninth goal of the season to tie the game for the second time. Kathryn Moos and Margaret Ramsay each assisted for Brown. The Knights wouldn't allow the tie to remain for long, as Maluta scored her first of the season at 7:12, with freshman Katie Morrison (Ridgefield, CT) contributing her team-leading 12th assist of the season.

Kira McDonald (Pickering, ONT) stopped 28 shots for her ninth win of the season. Stacy Silverman made 16 saves for Brown.

Brown out shot Clarkson 30-19, including a 23-9 advantage over the final 40 minutes. Neither team produced much offensively in their few power-play opportunities, as Brown went 0-for-1 and Clarkson was 0-for-3.
