COLGATE STOPS KNIGHTS 3-1 in ECACHL MATCH UP

Potsdam, NY - Despite out shooting their opponent 24-16, the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team dropped a 3-1 ECACHL decision to Colgate Friday night at Cheel Arena.

The Golden Knights fell to 8-10-6 overall and 3-7-1 in conference play and Colgate moved to within a game of evening their record at .500 at 10-11-2. Clarkson faces off against Cornell on Saturday afternoon.

Amanda Barre led off the scoring for Colgate at the 6:11 mark in the first period with Micki King and Becky Irvine assisting on Barre's ninth goal of the season. Allison Paiano scored the first of her two goals at the 12:44 mark. Thirty-three seconds into the power play, Paiano delivered her sixth goal of the season to give Colgate a 2-0 lead. Barre and Irvine each were awarded assists.

After a scoreless second period, Colgate extended their lead to 3-0 as Paiano scored her seventh of the season. Both Barre and Irvine, again, picked up assists.

Clarkson finally got on the scoreboard in the final minute of action when sophomore Christine Bailkowski (Aurora, ONT) scored her seventh goal of the season. Sophomore captain Lindsay Williams (Mississauga, ONT) assisted on the score.

Jessica Finley (Arvada, CO) made 13 saves for the Golden Knights, with her record this season falling to 1-1. Rebecca Lahar stopped 23 shots for the victory for Colgate. The two teams combined for just four penalties and the Raiders went 1-for-2 on the power play. Colgate was held to only six shots in the final two periods.
