Troy, NY - Junior Russ Vitallo (Dracut, MA) scored a team-high 14 points and added four rebounds, but the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team struggled to gain any second chance scoring opportunities against Rensselaer, dropping a 71-54 Liberty League conference decision Friday night.
The Golden Knights fell to 4-10 overall and 0-3 in conference play. Clarkson faces Vassar College tomorrow afternoon in their fourth conference tilt.
Clarkson trailed by only six points at the half, 29-23, but the Red Hawks took 36 shots in the second half to the Knights' 20. The Golden Knights were able to tally only two offensive rebounds all night while Rensselaer had 19 offensive boards. Clarkson was out rebounded 43-26 overall in the game.
Jon Youngmann (Corinth, NY) was the only other Clarkson player to record double figures in scoring, contributing 10 points. Paris Moore scored 19 to lead the Red Hawks and Tom Schneider scored 18 points and added 10 rebounds for RPI.
