Potsdam, NY - Junior Liz Masterson scored two goals, one in each half, as St. Lawrence defeated the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team 2-0 in a Liberty League contest Wednesday afternoon at Clarkson Field.

The Golden Knights fell to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the Liberty League with their third consecutive loss while St. Lawrence improved to 2-2 overall, 1-0 in conference play.

Though the play was mostly in the Clarkson end for the first 40 minutes, the Golden Knights were able to hold the Saints scoreless for most of the first half, thanks to freshman goaltender Meagan Emlaw (Norwood, NY), who made five first half saves. Masterson finally broke through for the Saints when there was a scrum just in front of the net that got past Emlaw for the game's opening score at the 40:08 mark. Margaret Tansey was awarded the assist.

The score remained 1-0 until Masterson drilled home a shot from approximately 18 yards out on a low ground ball. Leah Yandow assisted on the goal, crossing a pass over from the left side of the field.

Carly Draper made two saves for her first shutout of the season, while Emlaw finished the game with five saves.

Clarkson returns to action next Tuesday when they visit Potsdam State.
