KNIGHTS STRUGGLE FROM FLOOR, FALL TO POTSDAM 64-45

November 30, 2004

Potsdam, NY - Jim Connelly scored a game-high 15 points as the Potsdam Bears defeated the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team 64-45 in a non-league game Tuesday night at Clarkson's Alumni Gynmasium.

The Golden Knights dropped to 1-5 overall while the Bears, ranked 25th in the country, improved to 3-0 on the season. Clarkson looks to end a four-game losing skid when they host Paul Smith's at 7:00 pm on Friday.

Clarkson had no trouble hanging with the Bears in the first half, trailing by only six at the half, 26-20, despite considerable foul trouble. However, the Golden Knights could not keep up with Potsdam as they fell behind by double digits with a six and a half minute scoring drought. After Erick Vigansky (Kenosha, WI) hit a 3-pointer at the 15:38 mark, the Knights could not put another point on the scoreboard until 8:56 when freshman Kevin Bolduc (Auburn, NH) hit a pair of free throws. Clarkson shot 26.3 percent from the floor in the first half and held the Bears to a 31.8 rate in the first 20 minutes, but Potsdam picked up their play in the second half, while the Knights continued to struggle.

EJ Harrison (Troy, NY) scored a team-high 12 points while Jon Youngmann (Corinth, NY) added seven points in 13 minutes, due to foul trouble. Eldon Harris added 13 points and eight rebounds for the Bears and Michael Brooks scored 14 points and added seven rebounds off the bench for Potsdam.

The two teams combined to turn the ball over 50 times and also committed 57 fouls. Five players fouled out, three on Clarkson and two by Potsdam. The Bears out rebounded Clarkson 41-30, but shot just 1-for-14 from beyond the 3-point line.
