JONES' 25-POINT EFFORT LEADS KNIGHTS PAST SKIDMORE

Nick Jones scored a career-high 25 points in Saturday's win at Union
Saratoga Springs, NY - Freshman Nick Jones (Washington, DC) bounced back from a rough day against Union with a career-high 25 points on 9-for-15 shooting as the Clarkson University Men's Basketball team won its fifth straight game with a 83-72 Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association (UCAA) victory over Skidmore Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Knights improved to 8-5 overall and 2-0 in the UCAA while Skidmore fell to 6-5 overall and 0-3 in the UCAA.

The Golden Knights trailed by three at the end of the first half but surged ahead in the second 20 minutes, scoring 48 second-half points. Jones was 3-for-4 from beyond the 3-point line and 4-for-4 from the free throw line and grabbed seven rebounds.

Senior guard Josh Harner (Houston, TX) scored 13 points and added five rebounds, making three 3-point shots. Sophomore forward Russ Vitallo (Dracut, MA) matched Harner's output with 13 points, shooting 7-for-8 from the free throw line and 3-for-3 from the floor. Senior guard Kevin Williams (Syracuse, NY) added eight points and eight rebounds and freshman Jon Youngmann (Corinth, NY) contributed nine points and seven rebounds. J.P. Corry led Skidmore with 14 points.

The Golden Knights shot over 50 percent from the field in each half, finishing with 53.8 percent for the game. Clarkson also outrebounded the Thoroughbreds 36-25.

Clarkson opens its home portion of the UCAA schedule next weekend when they host Rensselaer and Vassar.
