Northford, CT - Jill Nolan (Labrador, NF) scored her team-high fifth goal of the season and recorded her fourth assist on another goal, but the Clarkson University Women's Hockey team came up short in a 5-3 loss to Quinnipiac College Saturday afternoon at the Northford Ice Pavilion.
The Golden Knights, who dropped their third straight game to move to 5-4-1 overall, trailed 3-1 early in the third period and cut the deficit to 3-2 on Nolan's fifth marker of the season. After falling behind by two goals again just a few minutes later, Courtney Bills tallied her first goal of the season at the 16:18 mark to make the score 4-3. The Bobcats recorded an empty-netter with a second left in the game despite a flurry of scoring opportunities from the Golden Knights.
Melissa Marshall (Oak Lawn, IL) scored her first goal of the season late in the first period for Clarkson to make the score 1-1. Lindsay Williams (Missisauga, Ontario) recorded assists on Clarkson's final two goals of the game, giving her a team-leading five assists.
The Golden Knights were out shot 37-28, with Stephanie Hansen (Calgary, Alberta) making 32 saves in her second start of the season for Clarkson. Janelle Wolitski made 25 saves for Quinnipiac. The Golden Knights were 1-for-4 on the power play, while the Bobcats (3-7) went 2-for-4 with the man-advantage.
Clarkson completes its three-game weekend road trip on Sunday when they visit Rensselaer at 2:00 p.m. at Houston Field House.
